It all started with an event called Seductive Stylez @ Doornroosje, Nijmegen. Followed by being the first Starbeach DJ Contest Winner in 2010, doing 100+ performances in clubs and festivals across The Netherlands before becoming the Winner of the SlamFM x PepsiKickInTheMix Remix contest for Calvin Harris ft. NE-YO – Let’s Go. Winning a Dreamtrip to Ibiza in 2012. It all went very fast from a young age and after all these years of dreams coming true, it was time for reflection.
In 2014 he decided to stop playing by the name of ‘Silky Bastard’ and start over with a different name, a name that was still unknown at this point. The growing fame around the name ‘Silky Bastard’ and the superficial aspect that came with it was not what this guy was pursuing being a music producer and a performing artist. It forced him to dig deeper into the meaning of the dreams he was pursuing and where he’s heading with all of this. Through the eyes of others he was doing great in becoming ‘successful’ from the age of 15, but was this his vision also? No it wasn’t.. he was actually just starting to lose himself more and more..
Techno opened the eyes and FACK IT became the breakthrough. The breakthrough in letting go of societies expectations and taking the time to elaborate on what he wanted to do, and how he wanted to do it. He needed to change his artist name in order to continue the journey; a name that complements the vision of universality over personality. This happened in 2015, about a year after stopping the well-running DJ career as ‘Silky Bastard’. After changing the artist name to ONEDEFINED, Fack It continued to grow as a worldwide brand. Besides events it flourished into a record label with an official techno inspired clothing brand upon followers recommendation.
Freedom is the guiding principle. The freedom to do what you want, regardless of the opinions and circumstances of societies, family members, friends, colleagues or whatever. Fack It proved it contains the power to live beyond all these mental boundaries, being able to focus on what I really came here to do; make music without limitations and obligations.
Thanks for reading, you are probably one of the very few people on the planet knowing about the background story of ONEDEFINED and I salute you.
Keep doing what you do, fack it all and hope to see you soon!
